Her family was large, she had eight siblings already at that time, but in my story there is only four of them because it makes it more relatable."Ĭlark notes that the plot of this book is relatable to many young people. My Mom was two years old when they made the trek, in my story she's the 11 year old. The next spring, he took his family all up there. He knew about the fact there was homesteads to be had in northern BC so in 1927 he staked a claim. Her family, and throughout our lives at family reunions, heard stories about when they made the trek from Landis, Saskatchewan to Northern BC. "The main character is my Mom, her name is Annie. Now, with publishing on demand and so many more outlets for books, they're a little softer so they'll look at and help you figure it out."Ĭlark advises that the storyline for this book relates and was developed from her family's experiences. Different world back then, publishers didn't like children stories so much, sell 50,000 copies or they didn't care. I sent them out a few times to publishers. I wrote several stories for children back then as I worked with children everyday back then. "I actually wrote the original story to this before I ever moved to Drumheller, back in probably 2001. She shares that this has been in the works for many years. Drumheller resident, Cindy Clark, has a number of talents, including being a great artist, and now she can add author to her repertoire.Ĭlark has decided to put pen to paper to write a children's book for young people called "Home In Stead".
